      What should I do?

So I am actually thinking of leaving the hobby for a bit. I just don't have the time to keep maintaining it, and I've let my tank kind of "go". So they're is Cyano EVERYWHERE, Aipastia EVERYWHERE, only like 6 snails are alive and I have ONE blue green chromis. My coral look like crap, and some are bleached. So I think I need just one big REBOOT.

I will probably end up PIFing pretty much EVERYTHING. Then just keep the tank and all the other hardware.

Despite the current condition of the tank (cyano, aipastia, etc), would people take it? I mean all the stuff would be free. Otherwise it'd all probably go into the trash, because frankly I have no attachment to it. Just wanted to see what everyone thought.

Well technically your coral is still alive and they are living animals...so DON"T THROW AWAY!!!! Please. Let people take it and bring it back to optimum health. my two cents

You could PIF it to a fellow UCSD employee such as myself

      I'll take it all.

I have a 90g and an 80g it could go into.

Plus I'm getting a 240gallon this summer that I'm collecting live sand and live rock for.

      Thanks Aly,

Yeah I know they are still alive, I just didn't know if people are willing to accept "damaged goods", ya know?

      Smile Pif

      Hello,

First of all, sorry for your troubles--breaking down is a hard decision.

I think PIF is a great way to do it, though . . . I wish I were ready--on Monday I'll be starting my first full reef--only a fowler before (don't think I'll have any livestock for awhile. . . ).

PIF really gets people involved as a community, both giver and receiver; that's what I really love about this group. OK. . . got to go. . . getting all misty. . . .

      Enjoy,

      Gordon

P.S. you won't be out for long. . . passions only go dormant for awhile. . . .
(I've had aquariums of one sort or another since I was 6 yrs. old)

Yeah I don't plan to stay out for long. Another reason I am doing this is because I plan to move into a house soon too. I may replace the tank I have with a true 50 gallon instead of the Uniquarium I have (which is only about 35 gal of usable space). Then do everything right from the get go, instead of half-ass and piecemeal stuff together. But hey, we gotta learn somewhere, right?

I'm sure there arealot of members here with the space and the know-how to save these corals if they are still alive. I bet if you did find such a person or people, and they were able to revive your corals, they would be happy to PIF you a frag when you were ready to set up again. I could be wrong, but I don't think so. There are alot of good people on this board.

I have a little room for a couple pieces....I can try to revive and give you frags once you come back. LMK if you breakdown i know the algae & aipastia are a pain sometimes.
