just get a 4 door civic hybrid
I had a 98 integra for several years and loved it. Insurance was higher than a civic and it did get broken into alot (more so in nicer neighborhoods for some reason). I would definitely check out the car fax on that and find out more about the salvage title. I would also be concerned that the odometer was rolled back and its possible that car fax would not catch this.
You might look in the classified papers. The best used cars are cars from little old ladys that only drove their cars to the store and church. They tend to post more in the papers and penny savers, i have had good luck with this.
good luck!
I just wanted to thank everyone for their input- I feel a lot more confident in finding a car now that I'm armed with a bit of information. Decided on a civic sedan or an accord sedan hatchback if I can find one.

mazda rx8...nuff sais
Just get a RX-7 with the Veilside Bodykit. Sheesh!
get the vin and check the carfax, milage looks way low for a 9 year old car not owned by a grandma.
"you'll receive the title/pink 2 weeks later" ?????? Give him the money when he gives you the pink!
Already plan to, plus I'm going to have my mechanic give it thorough inspection.
Unfortunately my mechanic is in Clairemont and the is in Vista... anyone know of trustworthy shop up there to take the car to for said inspection.
The low miles really does throw me off though... I plan to quiz him a bit when we meet tonight.
the last car i ought had lower miles than this and about the same age..It ended up being the car was running too lean and needed a valve job. because the car had sat in storage for years without being driven. wasnt worth it in the end
Use the $3800.00 as a down payment and buy it through a Credit Union like SDCCU. Just get a loan for 12 months. Helps your credit score and you can buy more car.
