Salty fingers since 1989. Current tanks: 240g FOWLR, 15g QT.
Scientific name: Pterois volitans (Linnaeus), aka Lionfish, is on the list. [URL="http://http://www.invasivespeciesinfo.gov/aquatics/main.shtml"]
Might be a couple of those out there. If I set up my FOWLR by then I'll just put my lion in a puffer costume. That should throw 'em off.
The dangerous thing about lists is things get added to them. I'm with warjose. Come get them invasive aptasia. But that would put my peppermints out of work? Dang it!! You just can't win.
those Lionfish are now breeding regularly off of New York and other Northeastern States (not their native habitat)

OMG...Where do I start?
Nevermind, it isn't worth it. They can have my caleurpa when they pry it out of my cold, dead, fingers.

Dang, I guess that puts a damper on my Caulerpa, fruitfly, boa, and canetoad vivarium anybody need a 100 gallon glass tank??
I did read the bill proposal and personally didnt see anything alarming except for the "nonmailable" line reffering to the "acceptable" species, which appears only to involve the USPS...?? If the bill passes there will soon be published in the federal registry a list of species included in the act I assume we will see things like cantoads, caulerpa and fruitflies not Acropora and Amrpiprion species...broad sweeping legislation to criminalize the pet industry just doesnt make any sense. Some species causing problems have been identified such as boas in florida (speculation on my part)and they may be included on the list but i dont see it as an in-road to abolish the whole pet industry. Society as a whole benefits from the research individual hobbyists like us provide, biological studies are possible because people like you and me figured out how to make skimmers work in our garage..However; If FWS wants to list Bryopsis species ,go for it, ill add them during the scoping period if someone doesnt beat me to it...My 02---ES
Drs Foster Smith is also asking for support in getting this killed or rewritten. This is a overarching bill for the whole US. If something is dangerous in Hawaiian waters then it could be put on the list. I wouldn't assume that this bill won't hurt us. Besides, the states already have their own restrictions, why do we need some poorly written US bill?

Pretty much what would be expected. It there was a bill of any kind which limited the distribution of guns or ammo you would expect the NRA to be against it. I didn'y think it was so poorly written, just a bit vague as to the process details for getting a species on or off the list.
