      Shells' Son's FW Planted Tank

Here is my "son's" freshwater planted tank. He is 7 years old and has had a 20 gallon for about a year. He asked for a bigger tank and well I could not resist.

pick up this 54 gallon corner bowfront glass tank from Berk80 here on SDR a while ago.

7 and bumpin up, chip off the block!
Nice job on stand, is that cedar?
And now my sump area simply MUST have bamboo flooring!
There's a fine line between owning your tank, and having your tank own you!_________________________________________

The stand is made out of 2"x4"s with cedar laminate.

I am toying with the idea of making the doors a project for the kids and I. We may do something like this, but more simple. Maybe just a fish of some sort.

I think the beads would be cool. What do you guys think?

I think that'd be sweet and a great project to do with the kids. Looks like they painted some. But if you want to do just colored beads and don't have a pattern to use and have a picture in mind I can probably help you decifer how to put it together. LMK

How would you lay it out Ed?

I was thinking of finding a picture, printing it out to size of doors, and then just lay it on the floor and then start placing beads where the colors are.

If anyone has a better way or actually knows what they would be doing. I would love the input.

Thinking about a simple fish, like in the attachement, on one door and another fish on the other door.

That'd be even easier. I'd plot it out on the computer. Just need to know what beads you want to use so I can pixel it out. Might be better than trying to keep things straight on the floor. LMK if you're interested

Nice tank and stand. I like bowfronts for FWP, gives it so much more depth. Shells, let me know when you need some plants i have a lot of trimmings to PIF!

Shelly, here's a sample of what I would put together, could even use a real photo. Sorry I didn't register the lines perfectly, but you get the idea. Then you just count beads

      Ed,

That would be great. I will have the kids pick the pictures they want to use and color them this weekend. So we know what colors then I will go pick out what beads so we know what size we are using then you can do your magic.

This will make it much easier.

      Shells

PS - guess I am not toying with the idea any more. We will try it out. If they look like crap well then we will go with traditional doors

      Emmer,

Thanks for the offer on the plants. I already picked some up from AW and Petco but let me see how it looks and if I need more I will hit you up.

Sounds good Shelly. LOL, yeah, even if you don't use 'em for the tank, I think it'll be a fun thing to do with the kids and I'm sure you could find some use for them. Just hit me up when you're ready
