thats not an ADA is it?
That looks pretty sharp.
That's just planting soil bottom right?
AGA tank.
The substrate is ADA Aquasoil. Hands down the best substrate for a fwp.
Please do your tank and yourself a favor and use aquasoil.
THATS WHY is so cool its an AGA,only the best.
I already got eco-complete.
Is aga that much better?
tank: $10
substrate: $10
shrimp: $10
plants: $20
Watching my tank grow into a overflowing green mass in a few days: priceless
Eco complete will work fine, but I love aquasoil for its abundant nutrient in the soil. I hardly dose my tank anymore, except for a carbon source (excel or CO2) yet my plants will grow like crazy.
It may not be worth it to change substrates if you already have a tank, but if you find yourself doing a new tank or redoing your tank, I would definitely recommend the aquasoil. I know Aquatic Warehouse carries it now, and if I remember correctly, their prices for ADA products are actually really good.
Note: AGA = all glass aquarium. your standard tanks.
ADA = amano design aquarium. the pimp tanks!
As for my tank, it's a standard AGA 5.5g tank I bought from Petco, and I just took off the trims and cleaned up the silicone.
I had an ADA Mini-M tank before, and while ADA tanks are pricey for the size, they're sexy.

Sexy is an understatement, maybe hi-roller or balla,hustla,thug....
Ah, thanks for explanation.
I do like the black soil look better than my plan.
I may bump to bigger, and go that route.
Eco-complete was $35 for a 20lb bag, more than I expected.
Aquasoil price?
a 9L bag is about the same price ($28-30). I don't know how big of a tank you want to go, but let's just say a 3L bag was more than enough for my 5.5 g tank.
Looks pretty |>amn nice D. Glad to see you back on the forums too :P
Looks awesome, makes me want to get a small tank going now.
What kind of lighting are you using?
27w PC desk light, found at Costco or Home Depot.
Very low maintenance tank, which is what I love about it.
