      Thumbs up HDR Anyone?

Took a few pics of Pier 9 in San Francisco yesterday, here they are rendered in HDR:

Your turn to share your HDR shots!

LOL, we use HDR in 3D for lighting, but I haven't done any HDR photography myself yet. Do you have anything similar with more detail in focus, I think the result might be more apparent? I can really tell in the second shot in the water glare and hot horizon. Cool stuff Minh, thanks for sharing

Not enough HDR action going on for you Ed? I chose to go easy on the tone mapping to not get too outrageous but I suppose that defeats the purpose of the exercise, huh? Got a few more shots but haven't had the chance to play around with them. More to come!

I'm one of the most visually sensitive people EVER, so I guess it's not enough Is this something your new camera does internally or did you do it post? If you've got the comps, it might be cool to show others what exactly HDR is so they can see the difference

HDR stands for High Dynamic Range. Mostly a camera can do a pretty decent representation of what we see. But single exposures can loose lots of detail info in areas that are brightly lit, high glare, dark shadows, etc. So simply put the concept is to take multiple images of the same thing at different exposures and compose them together in such a way that brings out the details in the dark or blown out areas resulting in a much finer detailed and consistently lit image

Here's the wiki page on it that shows some examples
      http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/High_dynamic_range_imaging

      I'm such a geek

Yeah, I'll post the before/after bits when we get home. The HDR shots are done all post. I took 3 bracketed shots by hand varying by 1.3 EV and HDR processed then tone mapped them. No Photoshopping done on the shots. I got some new ones done for you, I'm still trying to keep the shots within the realm of reality so they won't be too dramatic for now. Tell your sensitivity I'm sorry

LOL, no offense at all buddy Now this is what I'm talkin' 'bout. Getting some great extra definition out of what's normally blown out. Those skylights are killer, I can see why you got stuck on them.
