Seems pretty good... I'm a big fan of the algal biodiesel, though. Diesel has that nice, high, energy/volume ratio and doesn't explode.

algal biodiesel is a great future alternative, but much like corn based products, the effort/cost/yield ratio is messed up and not the most efficient ATM.....but they're workin' on it

Biodiesel has some good potential if done properly:

      http://www.globalgreensolutionsinc.c...gro/index.html

The above is pretty efficient for creating algae. Some other companies are working on optimal strains of algae.

Agreed - corn/ethanol is not the way to go. Way too inefficient.

I saw a cool thing on the algae oil on 60minutes and dateline, one of them showed these clear panels, kinda like blow up pool matts, so they were going vertical w/ them, less land area needed, seemed pretty cool.

Saw it too, pretty good stuff

On another note, I think I've found a better use for water change water: Saltwater Car?.

      Wow, cool link, thanks Minh!
I saw that guy on 60min w/ the cancer research/cure deal and found that itself to be amazing, but hadn't heard of the burning SW secondary discovery, pretty darn cool!

We're just a couple of 60-Minutes-Watching-Geezers, I saw that episode too!

To think, with all this technology floating around, some for a hundred years, that I can't walk down to a car dealership and buy something that doesn't run on oil (well, without selling my testicles at the same time anyways).

60 minutes is my dinner time educational warm up prelude to simpsons/family guy, where I then take my brain a completely different direction!LOL

I saw this. We just bought a prius and I saw where you can get these. You have to lease them to the tune of $600/month - bargain.

Congrats on the Prius. The FCX deal is not bad, we're on the waiting list (wishful thinking, really), considering the $600/month includes maintenance/collision insurance costs. Not too bad considering Honda is charging the $7,300 in the Japanese market.

Yeah it is a lease, they want the cars back to study them after you've driven them for awhile. the really cool part is that they also lease you the hydrogen fueling station that uses natural gas to produce hydrogen at your house.

Oh ok I did not realize it included all that - I just saw the price. So where in SD can you fill up - I have yet to see a Hydro filling station and what is the cost per unit, per fill up and how far will that take you?? This is definately where the tech needs to be with auto futures. Don't get me long I love my sports car but they will soon be a thing of the past.

      SO someone buy my bike...

guess i should have read the rest of the thread - always missing that last one. So how far can you go on a tank? What state is the hydro in also?

Actually it looks like it doesn't come with the home hydrogen station. that is why they only lease them in a few key cities that already have hydrogen.
