lol... i was excited about my 55g FW setup i just got... man... looks like i better get my pond lined and setup... so i can compete... the pond me and a friend dug out (with a pick axe, two shovels, some buckets and a wheelbarrow) is 5 feet a deepest and shelved at 1 foot increments all the way up to 2 feet... kinda a natural shaped with four sides... 10' x 12'... built the basic waterfall base with a housing for my pump and few outlets for the night lighting... just need to buy the liner and get too it... ^_^... but i guess it doesnt count till the water is in it... ehh...

before they put on the canopy, "700g Freshwater Planted" was written in Sharpie on the upper glass (acrylic actually). I think it is 8x4x3, which would be just over 700g.

its a 700gal for sure. it has a paper still on it listing the tank size. im sure it holds more then 700gal after the large sump thats under that thing.

here's some pics of my setup:
      when i first got it

my friend inside it (guy weighs about 240ish or more)

      then almost 2 years later:

thats pretty much it. i can take pics of the filtration if anyones interested. its a custom wet/dry overflow system with the heaters n pumps in the sump. 2 18gal tubs full of bio scrubbie pads from the 99cent store (better then bio balls, works great for freshwater) they are filled, and stacked on top of eachother. then they jus drain into a 55gal bin.

Looks good, feeding time must be fun in that tank.

Pictures of scrubbers? I hear a lot of people using it, is it like those plastic loofahs?

its like those metal brass scrubbers but a really good plastic material. seriously way more surface area then bioballs and are awesome for freshwater tanks.

i can try to get pics of mine when i get off work today.

feeding times are always a blast. fish stores always look at me funny when i walk up n ask for 15-20dlrs of live large feeders. or the occasional adult feeder mice or lizards i catch in my yard.

or even just pellets lol, they smash so hard n splash everyone if your close enough to it.

I used to feed my arowana hopper mice. We also used to get bettas or whatever we can find thats cheap and colorful and representatives of superbowl team colors and the losing team's rep. gets sacraficed.

I will go look for those when I reset up my tank I think Im going with a leichardti and a few big tin foils when I get my 180 back up.

My silver aro. died a few months ago Had him for almost 10 years, can post his pictures if anyone wants to see, they are posthumous though.

i can toss in some pics of my 1yr and 8month old leichardti also if ur interested. they do color up nicely as they age...

usually the pot scrubbies are cheaper at biglot stores. i raided most of them in sd when i needed as many as i got, but finding some now shouldn't be a problem.

i know for sure tho, the biglots off jamacha near mikes aquarium has zero left lol

You ever use the plastic easter grass? The stiff ones are supposed to be good, last time I went they only had the really thin ones and those can't stand up to the weight of water so I recycled them all.

Has anyone seen those huge high fin sharks at that pond in the shopping center near the eastlake target? Makes me want some for my pond.

I have Peacocks. They are truely monsters. I love them. They are like my kids. They wait for me to come home from work everyday and will bang on the glass when I come in the room. They get sooo excited its a trip!
