      24 Karat Gold Scolymia!

A quick shot of this crazy looking scoly. Seen Red ones, green ones, but never a GOLDEN Scolymia.

      Enjoy!

Hey Will, if you don't mind me asking in this thread, how can you tell the difference between that and a cynarina?

Ditto, because from my very basic knowledge, that looks like a Cynarina.

a cynaria usually is more see through adn the skeleton structure is way different.....The skeleton of a cynaria is similar to a bubble coral,it has that thin flakey(sometimes pointy)...........It is hard to explain in sush short words, but that is for sure not a cynaria.......HTH

      BTW Will,very nice piece

      Hey guys,

It's weird, cause what we call a Scolymia here in the states, in Indo, they call a Cynaria. The correct scientific term fro this piece is: Cynaria Desheysiana, or "Donut" coral.

In the past, I've purchased this type of coral from several LFS and the wholesalers, and everyone calls them a Scoly. But talking with the supplier, they say that it's a Cynaria. I think I'll just start calling them "Donut" corals from now on

Either way, this piece is super nice If anyone else can chime in on Iding this thing, post what you think! Thanks.

      Will
