      Got A New Lens

I got a good deal on a used Sigma 180mm macro lens. The polyps were a little over 3 feet from the camera.

Thank you, yes it was the 5D. I had never tried a Sigma lens, but I think for the price and how many times I probably will use the thing, its a bargain compared to the L glass.

Great shot! Now thats what I call working distance Sigmas perform quite well, especially for the price. I use the 105mm and love it. Nice score

Your pictures were what got me interested in the Sigmas, so thank you Ed. My tank is
30" deep and I just couldn't get the reach I needed for the stuff in the back with my 100mm Canon. Looks like I can get rid of the Canon now.

No worries Justin, I know you have tons of goodies lurking in your tank. Time to put your new toy to work.

Truth be told, most photographers I've talked to say that Canon's 100mm macro is better than the 180L. 1/2 stop faster, and the ONLY thing you gain from the 180 is wokring distance (8" for 100mm, 10" for the 180 @ 1:1 magnification). Now, with the Sigma, you don't pay the L price, so you should be good to go

I do have a few of them Paul. I find them to be difficult to take pictures of since the depth of field is so narrow.

LOL. Are you really surprised? I thought the same thing when I saw pictures of it. There are soooo many goodies in there, you just have to have an eye for them.

Seeing this tank in a picture and seeing it in person are two different animals. Justins tank surpasses amazing in so many ways! Nice pics!
