I wouldn't mind doing it but I think it's illegal for me to directly scan and post it, no? I can easily post the equations though and that should be fine. You can't patent an equation according the little lady .

It seems that "the Conscientous Marine Aquarist" seems to be on most lists for beginners. Though I'm learning a lot from sdreefs & reef central, I just ordered it from Amazon for $27 (softcover). Though I did notice the copyright/publication at 2001...thats about 6 years old. Will it be slightly out-dated?

Well, I'm a real newbie. So new that I'm still only in the "thinking about it" stage. I don't even own an aquarium yet, but I'm planning and learning in advance of making that leap. So far my only book is "Saltwater Aquariums for Dummies". It seems like a very good book for a beginning beginner.

I know, but like I said, I'm just starting and I'm not very good at reading technical stuff. I'll order a copy of the book you suggest from Amazon.com. Thanks for the suggestion!

I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the book. Also it is not to technical but covers the basics very very well.

Would love to borrow this book if anyone would let me

The Conscientious Marine Aquarist, by Robert Fenner

Hi there, I am new to reefs and I recently acquired a 5 month old 12g reef. I really want to learn how to keep the tank balanced and it seems like there are a ton of water conditions and supplements to be aware of... If nobody is using this book (since this seems to be the best amongst you guys) maybe I could CAREFULLY borrow it. Please PM me if you would not mind.
      Thanks!!!

      Moe--Hoff

I have a ton of books and I find that I constantly refer to a few and they are::The Marine aquarium Reference Sys. and inverts- Martin A Moe and the other one is :: "Conditioning, Spawning and Rearing of fish With Emphasis on Marine ClownFish" by Frank H. Hoff.---These by todays standards would be considered somewhat dated but they include information on all the current equipment that we use and from a DIY approach.. These are books that you can open to almost any page and find something that you either forgot or didnt know in the first place. They are long on charts and tables but short on glossy photos definately not picture books (they are illustrated) but I feel they are essential reference. Moe is the godfather and the original DIY aquarist. Hoff was spawning clowns for IOH in the seventy's !!! long before you could buy a skimmer or calcium reactor in America. I personally still enjoy these books after years of reading them.---ES
