For Aquarium Corals I picked mine up at Petco...no joke. $35.00 something

Same as my copy of The Conscientious Aquarist by Fenner.

Both are excellent books and before those books, on my shelf I bought a copy of Marine Aquaria and Miniature Reefs, I bought that book in 1996, it's the 1995 edition.

Great pics and yes by today's standards it may be outdated in regards to some aspects.

I also enjoy reading The Beauty of the Coral Reefs by Angelo Mojetta Andrea and Antonella Ferrari.
Some of the best photos you will find in any book. copyright 2000.

One of the first books I ever got for this hobby is a copy of The Dell Encyclopedia of Tropical Fish. Copyright 1974 ..it was a present from my grandmother and I was in the 6th grade, Christmas 1975. I still refer to it.

Escobal (9) Favorite, if I can't get to sleep.
Useful hint: Hanging pumps to reduce noise! Has anyone else done this?

The Reef Aquarium vol 3, by Delbeek and Sprung (9) Current favorite.
Many ideas on water motion. New hints on surge tanks.

Hanging air pumps or water pumps? I hung and air pump once, and then wrapped a towel around it to quiet it, but I wondered how much harder the pump had to work to suck in air.

Hanging water pumps seems like a huge strain on the body of the pump, and the plumbing, and might not be the best idea.

Looks like you're reading escobal right now.

Yes, I pick up Aquatic Systems Engineering when I'm putting together a new aquatic system as to curtail too many surprises.

Currently, I'm working on a new 210g from Tenecor. I've suspended a Velocity T3 with nylon by its mounting base and used flexible tubing at both inlet and outlet as to reduce strain on the plumbing; thereby, dampen vibration.

I've done this on another system with Iwakis in parallel. I did not measure original dB level but seems to have cut pump noise to less than half with almost no resonance effects. Cabinet doors can usually be left open.

PS. The T3 is on a 3/4" Sea Swirl with an eductor (filling tank tonight). Again, has anyone else done this? Hopefully, I will not have to split the return.

I just got Aquarium Corals by Borneman. Great book, but dense. I will need a good bit of time to get through this.

I got the Escobal Book from the Scripps library this week. Really interesting. I like the skimmer part in general an I'm hoping to use it to optimize my skimmer once I convert it to a recirc.

The Conscientious Marine Aquarist. I rate this one a 10 for the beginner / intermediate. General Overview.

The Reef Aquarium volume 3. I rate this a 10 for anyone who wants super technical and DIY type info.

These were the only two books I've read that were worth anything....

So is it worth the price tag?
