      I hate you!!

No really, those are SUPER nice Justin. Which lens did you take those with? The bokeh is really good on a couple of those. I've been trying to find a nice standard zoom lens with really good bokeh.

Thanks bro. I was shooting with a Nikon ED AF 80mm-200mm 2.8. Hows that D300? I need to upgrade to keep up..

D300 is good, it really has made me become a better photographer. I'm going to take the plunge in the next couple days and either pick up the Nikkor 17-55mm f/2.8, or the Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8. Decisions, decisions... I really need an all around lens that i won't want to upgrade anytime soon.

I would get the Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8 If I had the $$.. Pretty much the same price as a
      D300 body..

Thats why i'm leaning toward the 17-55mm.

Just FYI, there are a couple NIB D300's on craigslist right now for $1500.00.

Grab the 17-55... you'll benefit given your 1.5 crop factor.. good glass too.

As for the pics: I like the compositions... But watch your scene contrast. Animals are in the shadows, while exposing for the ambient. Of course you are far away, so you can't pop in a fill flash, but you may be able to run a double exposure on a tripod and mask out the animals to get the full effect. Otherwise... good behavior and stuff.

I seen them. I'm waiting for the D700.. The 17mm-55mm will save you a couple hundred

Yeah, still deciding. Good luck with the D700. My guess is that they are going to be SUPER hard to come by for a while.

      missed this,

i'm leaning that direction.. I'm going tomorrow to try them out. Benefit of getting the 24-70mm would be that i could get the 12-24mm next than when i get some more cash around the 70-200!

Awesome pics Justin. I love the one of the bird.

      I wish Digital SLR's weren't so expensive.

Expensive is a relative term. Entry level DSLRs (which offer pretty much the same image quality as their high-priced brothers. . . they simple have more plastic on them) are quite affordable nowadays. Relatively speaking of course.

I'm sure we've ALL dumped many DSLR's worth of corals, fish, and other reef stuff.... Just save up for a bit and go for it. It's worth the wait!

      And the lion pics rock!
