I have been running a beta version of the 1.07 firmware for about 2 weeks now and believe me it has been rock solid. The updating process could use a little polishing, but hey they are making an aquarium controller not a software package. As long as I can figure it out in a reasonable amount of time, I am fine with it. I can't, for the life of me, understand why people are hung up on the graphing, but it is a feature that people want and it should work. The display is far too small to be useful for looking at graphs. I'll wait until an RKE version of myReef comes out to worry about graphing. I have 100% of my system running on the RKE now and I am very confident in the system. If you haven't upgraded firmware to 1.07, you should. DA will be at RAP if you have questions for them. They will probably be showing off new hardware as well.

Dave (DaveMorris) came over to my house today to help me set mine up. I can not tell you guys how easy it was (with Dave's help) to set up and use. He showed me how to program and update the software. I have it all hooked up (less the chiller) and it is running great.

Having only used the 1.07 firmware I can tell you I have no problems so far. If you have not upgraded do it now.

If you are planning on buying one - the setup information is really bad - mostly because it does not exist - but Dave helped out and I can't thank him enough!!!!!

I am happy to help. The learning curve is still a little too steep, but once the understnading is there, it is easy. Remember that there is a lot of information on the DA support forum: http://forum.digitalaquatics.com./

Anybody that has a RKE and needs some help, just let me know. I am happy to assist you in any way I can.

And Shelly...Beautiful tank. It looks great!

I wanted the graphing feature so that I could see what effect the refugium+/- lighting would have on the main tank's pH over time. Of course, the MyReef software (or finally being able to export data to an Excel spreadsheet) would help zoom in on the analysis.

Ok been frigging with this too long.. What are the funtions of the manual overide on the PC4's. I have my lighting set up as basic lighting and pum as a sump/skim. If I want to shut any of them off as I read the POS manual it says to hold down button for two seconds. Well it dont work... everything keeps on going. Arrgh!

      Larry,

I believe you now have to hold down the 1 and 3 button at the same time - wait - then hold down the 2 and 4 button.

then hit the button of the channel you want to turn off.

they had to revise the way this is done due to the buttons being too sensitive.

May want to double check this as I just got mine set up yesterday, but I believe that is what Dave told me.

      From the Digital Aquatics site:

      Manual Mode Change
In this firmware revision we have changed the method for entering manual mode. Entering manual mode can be done using the following steps:

      1. Press keys 1 and 3 together for two seconds. The status light will change to blinking green.
      2. Wait two seconds.
      3. Press keys 2 and 4 together until the status light changes to solid amber.

You are now in manual mode. Exiting manual mode has not changed.

With a factory reset, it looks like I'm back on track. Now, I'll hook up pumps and figure out how to do the standby mode for feeding (and program the skimmer and chiller to go on stand by).

I don't know about you, but I just love looking at graphs!

And if any RKE owners want to have snazzy web pages like Dave & I, just let me know.

You can see them at www.reeftronics.net.

Technically no they are not, but they also do not have control software out for it yet. That will be in a few months. I use a Macbook Pro running Windows to update the modules. That can only be done in the Windows environment. The NET module is web based so that doesn't matter what machine you are using.

It looks like it will be a very cool controller. I have to laugh at Curt's lack of creativity though. He could have at least tried to make it look a little different than the RKE. I am real curious if they have everything rock solid when it is released, theoretically next month. The little hiccups that DA has had to work through with the RKE have been a tough road for them. Hopefully for Neptune's sake it is solid. The masses can be very cruel.

I am hoping that it does release with everything working because it should light a fire under DA to release a software interface for the Elite. That is taking way too long.

You, me, and about a couple of hundred other people on RC!

Nothing at all from beta testers I've seen so far... they probably have strong NDAs to comply with. Of interest though is that the AquaNotes iPhone app written by a guy on RC has already been confirmed to have a new release ready to go when the APEX starts shipping.
