      Down size critique

I am down sizing from my 150 gal 3 side viewable. (FOR SALE PM ME)

      Tell me how this sounds.
The new tank is about 65 gal. 40 x 22 x 18h. euro braced with three holes in the back glass. left hole 3/4" center hole 2" and right hole 2". I am planning on using my 35 gal sump and g-3 from the 150. I plan on uping my rio 1700 to a rio 2500 for a return pump running through a SCWID to the left hole and right hole (needs to be reduced). The center 2' hole will be a drain with a 90 deg pvc pointed up to take the surface water. lighting will be a single 250 aqua med pendent. I am not an SPS guy but do like caps.

As far as the stock I have: 2 blk wht clowns, velvet fairy, tomini, yellow chest twisti, leopard, and copperband that will transfer over to the new tank. Blue throat will be sold.

How badly over stocked would be 5 bartlets from david m and possible lemon peel (I know how the are with reefs but this is my favorite fish and may try one with only rics, caps, rbta, torches, and shrooms will it work?) in place of the copper band.

      Thanks,

      here ya go...

way to many frickin fish. The barletts instead of a copperband. No way, they like to eat all the time. Here's an idea, get rid of the tomini, yellow chest twisti (whatever that is), leopard wrasse and copperband and then get the barletts. I would hold off on the lemonpeel if you want to add 5 anthias. I would hold off on adding hold off new fish until new tank is stable.

Your lighting is fine for almost anything, I like the 250 DE 14k phoenix bulbs.

Personally, I wouldn't downsize as 150 gallon tanks are more stable

Now that is better. Thanks Chanas

I will make sure the tank is stable before adding new fish but thought with a large skimmer the fish load would be ok.

Does anyone think the lemon peel will eat the corals listed? I know they eat LPS, Zoas, and SPS.

Due to size cost and moving I am down sizing as I would love to keep the 150 up.

Sure, the fish MIGHT survive, but now you have a fish tank, not a reef tank
Unless you just gonna grow nutrient rich softies and xenia

Ok I am still thinking about the number and kind of fish. Thanks for the replies.

I had the size of the holes wrong and want some opinions on how to use them. There are three holes up high along the back glass. left hole is 1/2" center hole is 1.5" and right hole is 1.5". I want to use the center hole as a drain but can not figure out what to do with my returns. What size pump would you use as a return (how many GPH)? Would it work to use one return pump split to the 1/2" and 1.5" or would it be better to just not use the holes and do over the back 3/4" U returns? I would like to use a SCWD with both options but don't have to. Or do you have any better ideas?

      Thanks

you could use the other 1.5" hole for a closed loop intake, then use the 1/2" and drill acouple more 1/2" and use those for closed loop returns

I am trying to eliminate the CL out of my system. Part of the reason for the down size is one less pump and one less light. The tank is only 65 gal. so I thought there was no need for a CL.

did'nt have to be a big pump, just depends if you like seeing powerheads
I don't use CL currently, cause I don't mind Koralias and nano streams

Forget about the SCWD. They kill water flow. Use Koralias of Tunzes for flow.
