Has the tomini been a problem, or just now?

His eye is there and starting to look better. He is now showing dominance over the tomini and ate like normal. My fingers are crossed. If he turns out ok health wise I hope the marks go away. Just thought I would give an update.

A while back, I read Ivan was toying with the idea of splitting the intakes of his CL.

Some thought it unnecessarily complicates the plumping, but I thought this idea may have this benefit of it being harder for fish to get stuck in the intake.

PS. No need for removal unless wounds become infected. Doubt he'll go near that intake in the near future.

I have had this same problem in the past. My 2 CL intakes are up about halfway up in the tank behind some LR. They are also flat, so if a fish would swim by and not pay attention they would get stuck to it. For a while I just put my CL on a timer that would turn off four times a day for just a minute. But since then I have taken a peice of plastic gutter guard from Home Depot and folded it and stuck it in between LR and the intake. Since I have done that, no more crisscross fish tattoos.

I have a CL w/ a 2" intake run by a dart as well, this is what I used for cover, and no prob, tangs graze off it, no fish have gotten stuck.
AW did carry these, I believe spa places do as well.
Good luck w/ that tang, ouch!

dsvocean where did you get that screen? And can it be attached to a free standing vertical pipe?

Tang still looks good today. The BBQ marks are starting to darken and the eye is looking better and better.

Glad to hear the tang looks like he will pull through!!

As for the screen Davocean posted, I have to say, I would be nervous. Technically, it has a smaller surface to GPH ration than the three dimensional screen I have, so more suction per area squared.

Actually it has very little suction.
Shrimp walk on it no prob.
I drilled 1/8" holes for added flow as recommended by the guys at AW(where I got it).
Screws right into bulkhead, unscrews for easy cleaning.
