Exclamation Herbie Mod - Single Pipe

Some tome ago I found a thread on here that went over a new design for a Herbie Modification utilizing a single drain (backup drain was inside the one hole).

Can someone post the link in this thread please..... I think Nick designed it and I am almost 98% positive that Kalmik used it!!!!

      Thanks,

I know how to do it, but it is a little hard to explain in a post and without pictures. You basically use a reducer fitting with the closed end cut off, as a spacer to hold the smaller pipe inside the large pipe. Let's say you have a 1.5" pipe with a 3/4" back up pipe. The modified reducer would go in the top of the standpipe and the bottom of the standpipe has a tee on it. A second modified reducer goes in the botom of the tee. Now the backup pipe is held in place by the reducers and comes straight out the bottom and the regular flow goes through the tee. That is where the gate valve goes.

      How is that for confusing?

clever - I used both holes in the bottom of the overflow box to plumb a herbie system ad ran the returns up the back, which workd for me.

Working out the kinks on mine...

Just going to say 600 gph return is too much for 1.5" with 3/4" back up drain.

My overflow is drilled for a 1.5" (I think) bulkhead. My standpipe is a 1" inverted "U" drain. Someone at AW told me that I would want to go with as big a pipe as I could fit in there, even though the bulkhead was smaller, it would still improve my flow. Is this true? If I were to use a 2" pipe as the standpipe, wouldn't it create a road block at the bulkhead?

well i know some one asked what size pipe i used. so here it goes pipe is a 2 1/2" with internal pipe 3/4". hope the pics will help. this is very simple to do .all i really had to do was remove the lip on the converter on the bottom of the pipe2 1/2 to 3/4 . its not ones long pipe its 2 pieces the converter on t bottom is my coupler. the top internal pipe is not glued just incase i want to change the hight or for adjustments.so u can play with it till you get it right. u can pull it out with neadle nose pliers an re cut it.
