      safe pvc pipe?

I was at home depot today looking to buy plumbing stuff for a chiller.
I was looking at the pvc plumbing elbows, connections, etc and asked if they had them in anything other than white. He said no and asked what I was doing. I told him and he said he heard that the pvc connections at HD would kill the fish. Something in the plastic he said.
      1.) Is this true?
2.) What about the pvc pipe?
3.) Where can I go (in town) to buy safe pvc?
4.) Any one stop online shops?

I want to set up the chiller this weekend.

If you don't want white, these guys sell black fittings:

      http://www.savko.com/partlist.asp?pgid=3&ptid=36

You wouldn't be able to get them by these weekend, but if you want black they have it. I have been told by LFS employees at more places than AW that HD PVC parts were bad, but they also buy their fittings from the same manufacturer. It is a load of crap. PVC is inert and will not effect your tank one way or the other.

      You know what….
I just read something not to long ago about some plastics could have an anti fungal additive in it. They warned it could kill fish over time. I think I read it on Advanced Aquarist's Mag.
So when HD guy said something about the pvc I just took him for his word.
Well that sucks! I wish he would have said this to me with just one thing in my cart.
I had been there for about 1/2 hour picking out my cliller plumbing masterpeace.

      Well anyway...........
This is the first time I will be using pvc (No S@%#) for my tank.
How long did you let the glue cure before you hooked it up to the tank?
Any good pics or how tos?

Let the glue dry for about 1-2 hrs and rinse the plumbing out before you hook it up to your system.

Polyvinyl chloride akc PVC pipe is manufactured to ASTM standards among many others which qualify it acceptable for potable i.e. drinking water standards. If you can drink water from the pipe, it ain't gonna hurt your fish. The worst kind of advice you can get is when someone opens their mouth and knows nothing about what they are talking about! I asked a lady the other day in HD if she new about the lights in the electrical section. Oh yes she said. I told her I was looking for a CF with at least 5600k rating. She had no idea what I was talking about, so I enlightened her.

If anyone is ordering from savko, would anyone mind adding a 1.5" MALE ADAPTER to their order and I'll pay them back for it?

If not, I'll just try krylon fusion.
