My Tank (Pictures!!!) --and possible parasites??????

Here's my tank from a couple weeks ago.... BUT -- I also have a question. My Ram has developed white spots on his head.. and a couple on his right side... I've never seen Flukes. . . but never in person... are they part of his 'look'? or are they bad? Nothing has been added since him and the mollys were (shrimp were added a few weeks later). They've been in there since January. . .

Dont' know about the flukes, but that is one nice tank. The water clarity is amazing. Tanks like this make me question my passion for reef tanks!

Definitely not flukes. Flukes attack the gills and can not be seen by the naked eye. Looks fungal to me. Not sure how to medicate since you have such a beautiful planted tank. Anything you use will need to take your plants and tetras in consideration. Unless you decide to QT the ram seperately.

I trim the plants bi-monthly... gimme an address and a couple bucks for shipping, and I'll hook you up

Up until last week, I only dosed Iron. Now I have seachem Flourish trace elements. I lost about 1/2 of the thickness of my background plants (I forget what they are called; long skinny ones) after I dosed excel, so I stopped. I dont' know how or why though, but they really took a beating and thinned out a LOT (starting to come back now). Not sure what I did.

As for the ram, I could keep an eye on him and if things go south, QT and treat him. He's quite the character in my tank (We named him Dodge ).

Lighting is a 250w MH (14K for now until I can afford a 10K). C02 injection, pH 6.5-6.8. UV sterilizer and carbon run 24/7. After that NASTY algae bloom, it's only gotten nicer

Thank you! I setup this tank because I couldn't really afford to do my reef again. I've been very happy so far (except for that algae bloom). Now I just need to gather up the 40+ molly fry in there and the female and get some glass cats!

The more I see plant tanks, the more I want to set one up. They are getting ridiculously good looking!

Definitely, if I would setting up another tank, it will be planted!

      Nice tank, btw....
