The impeller is just like the one pictured earlier in the thread. It has mesh, and the volute is an interesting design. The inside is really oversized for the impeller and the hose barb is larger than Euroreef or ASM so the airline is a much larger diameter. (I'll take pictures next time it comes apart for cleaning) They claim it draws 2000lph of air/per pump. The guys on ReefCenteral back that claim. My tank is right behind me, and the only way I know it is on, the door to the sump area is open. My return pump, GenX4100 is louder. I'm thinking of swapping that out just for general purpose.

Answering another question, they do use Sicce pumps but they are modified at the factory. I don't know what they do... but these are whisper quiet. The latest design also has a built-in gate valve. This was a big complaint in previous models. Again, I found this really easy to setup and the results would be hard to beat at the price, unless it was built in China. Then, I'd buy this one just because it is made somewhere other than a sweat-shop factory.

Another cool plus is that it runs off of just that one sicce pump that operates on only 40watts.
Mine was first generation, so no standard gate valve, but that was modified from a gate valve from reefgeek.

The ATI BM250 runs (2) Sicce pumps. The 40W is max, I think in deeper sump water. I run just enough water in the sump to cover the pumps. Mine is pulling 34W/each. Total is less than the recirc pump on my last skimmer. Again, the performance of these two pumps is absolutely incredible for their size and so quiet I giggle thinking about it. The MRS. used to have the TV really loud to comp for the skimmer noise. NOT ANY MORE!

Thanks JJfly for the response. I need to hear a BM to compare it to mine. However, I still think mine is louder and I want it quieter.

Taking pics of the volute, impellar, and pump when you have it disassembled would be great.
