My K3's are extremely quiet. Check to see if you have anything stuck in the impellar?
not sure if anyone else knows this, but i found out that the main cause for rattling noise from a koralia is because the very small, LOOSE plastic washer piece behind the impeller is missing (probably fell out or something). what's worse, the washer is clear-whitish in color. mine slowly fell down to the sand bed and when i looked away and looked back, i lost track of it; that's how ridiculous it is. Hydor could've done a better job to secure that or made it some neon color.
easy solution: just cut up another plastic washer (donut shape) and slide it in under the impeller. thickness is about the same as a Rubbermaid container. Diameter of circle: to fit in the impeller hole loosely. It doesnt have to be perfectly round and to make the donut hole, heat up a small screwdriver and poke it. Voila....silence is golden again =] .
I think it's even quieter than originally haha
there are several "noisy koralia" reviews on online shops, when it IS suppose to be silent. Not defected, just missing a washer. i just wanted to throw this out...
I noticed that my K1 had a washer while my K2 didn't. Either different models designed differently or different batch(?), i dont' know.

Does anyone have a date on the new Koralias?
Nope, but they do have it posted on their website now.

www.marinedepot.com is selling them right now, I'm not sure how long they've had them up but I just noticed them.
I just received my "used" koralia 2 from ebay, and so i needed to do a little research on it because i was slightly aware of the recall of the #2 and #3 last year.
so this may be old news to most of you old time reefers, but just thought i'd share it with us youngans in case we come across one:
letter from Hydor:
"Because not every Koralia #2 and #3 were affected, we did not consider this an all out recall. If you check the label on your pump there is a 3 digit number on it. If it is 713, then you are OK. If it is 644, 649, 651, 703, 704, or 707, it could be effected by the defect. If it is, we will be happy to replace it for you. Please send it to the following address with your name, address and phone number so we know where to send the new one.

will the new hydors work on my ac jr. so i dont have to buy their controller
b u m p
any clue guys and gals
JAHGYDI,
the Hydor control system steps down the voltage on the new Koralia pumps so you'll need the Wavemaker 2.
"The Hydor Koralia Wavemaker system is specifically designed for use connected to the Koralia 12V low voltage pump range."
I suppose you can get a converter but you'll lose the night mode feature which lowers the pumps amplitude with a photo-electric cell.
I waited for these for two years and was so disappointed I sprung for the tunze nano's. I think hydor really missed the boat here. By the way, i love my tunze, very controllable, super small and very rugged so far.
goof choice kelley. I still don't get why hydor is asking so much for their controller units.
