I'm curious if we are talking about all monti's in general or just encrusting species?

Ryan, what skimmer is or was he running at the time of the monti problem? Also net gallons and skimmer rating? I had the exact same thing when I ran the large BK on my system.. Within a week of removing it and going with the new KZ no problem keeping montis again.

I have a BM250. I think my tank is too bright. I can't keep acan's either. I have to push them way in a cave. I'm going to stop over driving my t5's and see how that goes.

Let me know how that goes.. I am a lite hoe and push tons of lite on my corals. No problems from lite but disaster with the NW skimmer. Your skimmer is way overrated also I am really leaning in that direction.. Whats your po4 and no3? I like no3 and so do sps.

darksilenttype, just a question, doesn't the Reef Crystals yield too high of an alk value to run with Zeovit (reccomended 6-8 dKH)? I ran Reef Crystals in the past and was getting a range of 10-12 dKH on average on 2-3 buckets. Have you never had a problem with tissue necrosis at these levels with the Zeovit?

The most common salts I see used with the Zeovit method are Reefers Best Salt, HW Marinemix, Tropic Marin Pro and Seachem Reefsalt.

I know the Seachem is the cheapest of the bunch listed above and has a decent kalium level and lower range alk (7-8 dKH)

      Hi all,

My first time posting on your forum and I have a question about deep sand beds. What causes a deep sand bed to crash after a number of years, and what exactly is a deep sandbed crash?

The first time I was amazed by a pro-biotic tank it was a guy's named Iwan's tank, posted on Reef Central. He he was running a deep sandbed and using a mixture of Prodibio and zeovit products to achieve a low nutrient tank.

After ~3 years Iwan switched to a new tank with a shallow sand bed. My understanding is that he did have some concerns about his original deep sandbed and the potential that it could crash.

      Anyone have thoughts on this?

I have not had a issue . I check all my levels the day after a water change and have never been on the high . I have however been on the low side around 6 . I like to keep a steady 7 to 7.5

I have not had a problem with tissue necrosis with Zeovit or at all as of yet .

I have used Seachem Reefsalt and liked it a lot . But when it because a issue to get it local I switched.

I would use Reefer best salt if I could get for a better price . The shipping is killing for me .

By the way I was here and was reading around and I have a question for you guys .

How sweet is it to get your water straight from the souce?

      John
