looks like you have a good case of hair algae developing, aside from any chemical treatments try removeing it with a small filter brush by twirling it around, on areas where it is particularly bad, best to break off part of the plant and dispose of it, probably see more enhanced plant growth if you do.

It used to be bad, but actually after my big bloom, it isn't longer than 1/4" or so. I'll have to go get some of that excel and try that.. Any problems with it WHILE dosing CO2?

Naw, there shouldn't be a problem.

On the other hand, you should look into the root cause of the algae. You dosing the right levels? If it was just an aftermath of your lack-of-CO2 ordeal, then I wouldn't worry about it, but just make sure your nutrient levels are in order.

Just don't dose too much excel at one time or you will increase the CO2 way too high and sufficate your fish. Do one spot at a time!

      - learned this one first hand. Algae was sure gone but I could of filled my tank with tears when I saw my fish

Excel doesn't add CO2, lol. It adds an alternative carbon source.

But yes, don't OVER-overdose. :O Just like you can OD on vitamins, nothing is good in too big amounts. By overdose, I mean instead of 1 mL, you can add 3-5 mL. Don't... dump a capful in or something.

Yes I know it is not a Co2 (carbon dioxide) but it is an alternative for Co2 - it is an organic carbon for plants.

And when you have too much organic Carbon or DOC the high levels of DOC can inhibit nitrification and can increase the biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) which in turn reduces the amount of oxygen in the water that is available to the fish and invertebrates. An thus dead fish.

I've read that overdosing excel will kill aglae.... and it did.. but my one species of plant suffered as well... It's starting to come back now. All plants are still pearling like crazy, so I'll consider it a 'sode and hope it replenishes itself.
