      Fwp Cube Of Awesometicity

I thought I'd start a little thread on the new 60g cube I'm setting up. I'm attempting to really take my time with this one and am having a local FWP expert come over and help out with aquascaping, setting up the CO2 and filters.

I had our resident master carpenter Fadel build me the stand/canopy.

Here were some update shots I got from Fadel.

Please Chime in with any and all opinions.

The stand and floor are almost a perfect match which is amazing since Fadel only was able to eye the colors from pictures.

eww! What a horrible looking stand! So ugly! I'll do you a favor and take it off your hands...what an ISOR!

j/k of course. Very nice work Fadel. What do you have planned equipment/lighting/stocking wise?

I'll be running the 360-c marineland canister, a 10lb bottle of CO2 and an absolute TON of plants. Along with 2 ghost angel fish and some blue tetras most likely.

I meet with my FWP expert today so I'll keep this thread up to date.

I haven't been involved in FW since my LFS days...what are ghost angels and blue tetras (neons?).

Its a Visio. My reef tank is the same and I have no complaints.

Just stocked the tank today. Need 1 last piece of wood before i can plant down the livestock. Cloudyness went down dramatically after a couple of hours..

Newest updated photos...a few Neon tetras, green and cherry shrimp, and corys have been added, along with some much needed aquascaping.

Any advice on how to better cover the back with plants? I wanted a wall of green basically in the back but it is difficult to do so and leave enough room in the soil for each plant.

      Any thoughts?

Looking good! Jungle vals will grow straight to the top and cover your back wall, and they don't really need a lot of space (like stems). Another great way to do it is a moss wall, but while they look incredible, hair algae can really be a PITA with this.
Consider buying some soft lead weight strips - they are great for holding down light plants and are cheap. Definitely a huge headache-reducer.
Be careful keeping shrimp together - cherries and the common greens are not the same genus IIRC, but shrimp of the same genus will crossbreed. For example, Tiger shrimp and Bee/diamond shrimp are both "Caridina" genus - don't keep together.

You should follow takeshi amano style, looks sweet. Im not saying that its not good right now but you can do a nicer scape.

Im sending an order through either today or tommorow for some plants from my contact. Let me know if you are intersted. Right now i have tons of Glossostigma elatinoides, some Echinodorus tenellus, Brazilian Pennyworth, Rotala Macandra, Rotala Indica. If you want to come by within the next two days you can have them for free.

You should think of doing low tech plants with some medium light plants. If you ever need to rescape, let me know. I can help you out.

Hah..I was trying to follow the Amano style. (i.e. the pathway and focal point being two-thirds from the right side). THe tank is still going through puberty I would say..but yes it is FAAAAR from Mr. Amano. He just makes them look so damn good and its hard to imagine how to get to that level.

In regards to your plants I'd love to come by and pick some up...even though I have no idea what any of those are..(still new to FWP).

PM me your location, I'm in Rancho Bernardo.

Lets Redo your tank.. haha. We are actually going to Redo Dannys 500g FWP. Thats gonna be some fun. Substrate is the key to a successful FWP. I usually add peat granules as the first layer, then either eco or Flora. I do this becuase even though i miss many many nutrient dosing, the plants are still healthy as can be and super green due to the roots having the right nutrients.
