      for my whisper, i pull up the impeller then put it back in and it works.

      Ive used rio's for over a year with out an incident. I have have heard similar complaints about the pump destroying a tank due to the oil that it leaked on the older models. That issue should have been cleared up with its magnetic motor, which sounds like direct drive although the manufacturer doesn't use the term "direct drive". From my understanding they switched motors 2 years ago. And I haven't heard any complaints from the new models.
