Well, I never thought I would spend over $300-400 on a powerhead but I understand when you want new technology, you are going to pay a price. I purchased 2 of these powerheads, one used which turned out to be an older model and I upgraded to the wireless driver. Having used Seios and Koralias previously to these powerheads, I definitely feel I've made a solid investment. The wireless drivers are very easy to set up and have 4 different modes you can put them in and you still have the option to adjust your pumps to produce anywhere from 300gph to 3000gph. My glass tank is about 3/4" which is the max suggested for using these since the base of the powerhead mounts to the outside of the tank and uses a strong magnet to mount the propeller side. They can be noisy at first until you adjust them. I can tell you that there is definitely a difference between the used one I purchased which you can definitely hear and the newer model which seems to be perfectly quiet. They produce an unbelievable amount of flow and mine are in an 8' long tank which just the 2 vortechs produce a significant amount of surface agitation. I also appreciate the option for a battery backup. They claim to produce up to 30 hours or 15 hours if you have 2 vortechs hooked up. You can obviously purchase additional back ups as well but they run $150 and are not small or light.
Pros:
Easy to mount/configure drivers
Wireless wave driver eliminates need to purchase wave machine and does not just turn on/off your pumps.
adjustable flow control --300 to 3000gph
solid craftmanship, not cheap plastic
Size, much smaller than Tunze's
Battery backup option
No AC/wires inside the tank/eliminates heat transfer
easy to clean
Cons:
Price
Not able to rotate direction of flow
older models can be louder
not able/recommended to use on glass thickness over 3/4" currently
