changing water in a 12g nano

I am sure someone has asked this, but I did not know what to search for. Also I have gone through some articles but got different opinions.

I have a 12g nano, heavily loaded with different corals, it runs with a prizm skimmer and 15 lbs of live rock, but with no mechanical foams or filter bags to clean. How often should I perform 25% water change? right now I am doing once a week, but some articles said once every other day. So I would like your suggestion since I know quite some people keep nano here in this forum.

      Thanks in advance

25% water changes every other day on a regular basis?!

imo, thats WAY more than is necessary, and would probably stress out your tank. 25% per week should be absolutely fine, unless youre feeding extremely heavy, or you have a large FISH bioload.

many, many people on these forums go weeks without water changes. i personally do about 30% every week, and i chose to go with a fuge with chaeto in one of my back chambers instead of a skimmer.

I agree, you should be more than fine with once a week. My wife also has a 12g nano, she only has 2 lemon peel fish only 3 o 4 corals and a shrimp, she does a water change every other week with no issues, been 2 years on that tank.

Wont stress your tank doing water changes often as long as the water parameters are consistant.

It's all a matter of preference, bio load, lazyness, and desire to combat algae growth.
