I would prefer to go with Aquacultured colonies. The only requirement to get into the contest would be to buy your frags. At the end of the contest, the frags would be judged based on growth and color. You would win bragging rights and the respect of your peers. I mostly want to see the results I get vs. others' results and evaluate what I am doing right/wrong.
If you are intersted in being the supplier of the frags, can you please pm me? I'd like to get some more specifics determined; price, type of frags, and how many frags of the same colony is possible (so I know how many people can be involved). RC had around 30 people so I need to go back and find out how everybody got frags of the same stuff.

I have a few nice AC colonies I can provide.

Just need a list a people interested in greeting in the contest.

Plus you can mount your own frags to see which way growns the best.

I think 10 people will be a great starting point, with three types of acros.

      I will start a list

If we are just doing one coral, and it's an acro, then I'm in.

      Count me in!

I'm in the RC contest but will be out of town so i'm going to take pics and send in the weights of my frags for judging. We started with 4 frags and i lost one at the very beginning.

What kind of frags were they? Where were they purchased? Were the frags discounted? Were they encrusting on a plug already?

They were fresh cut frags which were weighed individually at the time of fragging and then mailed out or picked up by the participants. Then each person weighed out their frag plugs before attaching the frags that way at the end of the contest you could figure out, by weight, who's frag grew the most. The contest is also judged on color as well.
The frags were from these colonies
      A. Rosaria
      A. Sarementosa sp?
      A. Plana
      A. Tenius

I lost the saremntosa right away as did many of the participants. My tenius rtn'd to the point that i only saved a few little tips which are now growing nicely but its still less than a 1/4 of the original frag so i'm not winning any prizes there. My plana hasent done a whole lot but has shown a little growth and has good color. The rosaria is by far my best one that grew the most and has awesome color. I'll post some pics this evening.

      Scott, just a suggestion.

If there are 10 or even 20 participants why not just chip in to all have the same frag plugs? Boston Aqua Farms plugs/disks or some other brand plugs will only cost a couple of bucks.

So you just log the inital mass for each participant at time of pickup. Then 6months from now you can weigh the final mass (of frag and disk) then subtract the mass of the disk to calculate the increase in mass of the frag.

This way you dont get people encrusting their frag over an epoxy covered lead ball. LOL......

And we could even have a group order on frag plugs.
