For all of you Bush haters out there (and the rest of us)...
I am sitting backstage at an IBM meeting here in San Diego listening to Jean Michel Cousteau speak. He just announced to the group here that on June 15th President Bush will be announcing that 140,000 square miles of ocean space surrounding the Hawaiian Islands has been designated as a National Monument and will be protected under Federal law governing our National Parks. His decision to do so was based on a film that he and the First Lady viewed with Cousteau and his foundation people. The film is a Blue Planet sort of film that was illustrating the demise of our coral reefs and open ocean habitats. It should prove to be interesting. Hopefully it won't get mucked up in too much red tape.
