      $290 for a xenia?

I am in OC this weekend and went to Tong's in Huntington Beach and I saw a price of the Umbrella Xenia for $290. The xenia looks pretty much like a pom pom xenia but with slightly longer stems.

Why is the Umbrella Xenia so expensive?

Also, I saw an extra-large Acan Lord for $1,500. It is big but...wow, for $1,500, I would rather put a few more hundred dollars and get a 48" Solaris LED fixture instead.

Corals sometimes have outragous prices because people are willing to pay that. Otherwise it will just sit there and slowly the store will just keep lowering the price. Personally, I think designer corals are just silly. Whenever I take the wife to see any reef tank, the first thing she comments on are the normal pompom xenia. To a lot of us, it's a weed but normal people don't care. Cheap frogspawn, hammers, and such are also gorgeous to most people so why spend $1500?

Part of the reason Tong's has such beautiful "display" tanks are those outrageous prices on such pieces. They're priced like that to hold them back for the displays. For practical purposes they aren't really for sale, but if you're willing to part with a pile and a half of $$$ it's all yours.

      Those prices are negotiable, btw.
