Looks like it'll match the cabinets nicely.
Update:
I got some new bulkheads and started drilling the backside of the wall. The plan is to have an almost zero maintenance planted FW tank.
Features:
- DIY wet/dry filter using two 55 gal drums
- Autotopoff from RO/DI unit
- Slow drip to landscraping drain
- CO2 tank w/ diffuser and controller to maintain proper pH
- Lighting: (none yet).. but thinking about PCs or T5s.. what's best for plant growth and color?
Damn, nice work. Hopefully I'll get to see it today.
WOW WOW WOW
Great Tank!
Update:
It's OG Ron's Bday today.. I swung by and picked up some FW plants and some decoration. Here's an updated pic of it. I'll post my homemade filter system soon.
Ron was also telling me about some new specie of fw fish from bermie? Looks very cool.. I ordered 9 from him... should come in next week.. I'll post pictures of it.
nice work Danny! What did you finally go with for lighting?
Not bad danny, not bad. Have you implemented your auto wc yet?
Gonna order some T5s from Mike Parkis... Helios III?
2xdaylight + 2xactinic. They'll be 24" kits. I think that should be enough light for fw plants. I know the actinic won't do much for the plant, but I like the blue colors.
I just have a 54W Actinic bulb on it right now.. Anyone selling a 36" 4pin PC daylight bulb? I think it's 54W or 96W... Not sure.. I need some to use until my T5s come in.

I have to thank RICK again for the awesome stand!!! Perfect! Perfect! Perfect!

Just keep in mind that the helios aren't the most environmentally friendly things, given that you toss the whole (lead filled) ballast when it dies. They also don't appear to be quite as high output as a real T5 fixture is. They work, just with a few compromises, which are to be expected when buying TAAM products. I'm not saying they won't work, just trying to give the buyer a little warning.
Looks nice Danny. I have 2 24" PC fixtures you can use until you get the lights. I see you are also ready for the canopy. Give me a call and we can build it together.
Cool.. I'll take you up on that offer... I might buy a bulb for my 36" PC.
Lucubrator: I'll probably be going with the Helio III, which use the standard T5 bulbs and the bulbs will be replaceable... Much more environmentally safe.
Hmm.. maybe I can just use some PCs... I'm sure someone where have some lying around for cheap.

Thanks for the compliment. Please post some pics of your work. I too get a lot of ideas from other people's work.Originally Posted by varanoid
