Still waiting on parts, but here are some pics of the 2 blue LEDs i didnt distroy hooked up to a 9v battery, running at (i think, could be 1000mA) 500mA out of a possible 1500mA

This is on my 12g nano, pics taken with same camera settings, same ambient lighting and same distance.

      the stock actinics only

ONLY two royal blue LEDs, held in feeding port, so didnt light the back of the tank.

      the moonlights kicked in

Oh, and my zoas openned up under the 2 LEDs

This is gonna be pretty nice with 12 LEDs and a proper power source.

Both. The way I've heard it we're getting a new tank that the water spills over the top on all four sides (similar to a 'disappearing edge' pool I guess) creating the illusion of a solid block of water and we're getting a Solaris fixture for it... It'll be a display. But I've also heard we've already practically sold one to one of our more 'affluent' customers...

well $100 in parts to, i think, equal the output of the smallest solaris fixture. It would be half the LED's that give off almost double the light of the LEDs solaris uses. But I could match the # of LEDs for about $200 for for 24" fixture and another $200 for every 12" above that.

but hell, $600 still beats $2500 for a 48" fixture.

I'd need to find someone to weld 4 aluminum heatsinks together though heh.

Might want to keep 'em seperated, hey! Seriously though, the piece of a chip that you connect to a heatsink is also often the ground, and that can wreak havoc on the function of other chips. Trust me

      Look familiar?

Those reflectors, while nice, are only 85% efficient, so solaris LEDs lose 15% of their output before it ever leaves the fixture.

Actualy I'm going to be using a step down converter that will have a ground wire, hopefuly that will handle the grounding.

That, and im going to be isolating the LEDs from the heatsink, only the surface designed to be mated to a heatsink will be touching it.

You mean the diffuser on front, or do they actually have a reflector in the back?

Wow, nice, where'd you actually get them?
