So after a long stint of going fishless after upgrading to my new 180 gallon tank i decided to look around and see what options i have for early stocking my tank. I went on a drive today to check out all the local fish stores in reasonable driving distance to me from La Mesa. I went to the typical Petco, Pet Kingdom, Vets Pets and Aquatic Warehouse that i have gone to in the past. I also decided to go to my old stomping grounds when i used to do fresh water cichlids and decided to go check out Aquarium Fish Depot. To my surprise they had a HUGE selection of saltwater fish in stock including a bunch of fish that i have never seen at any of these other stores in the past. It appears as though the store is under new ownership but they have still managed to increase the variety of fish available to the hobby. It is located on the outskirts of PB and owner was happy to take time to answer any questions i had. They also had a good amount of freshwater fish still as well as a few coral tanks, dry goods and dry and live rock to choose from. I ended up getting a radiant wrasse which i had been searching for quite some time. If you are having a hard time finding a specific fish i highly recommend checking them out if you are local! I have not heard anyone talking about this store so figured i would spread the word as its good for the community to have options and more fish to have available to us.
