Can’t believe this Sh** about to go to a party and just found out my heater nuked my tank. Replace your heater every 1.5 years, this Finnex is only 2years old

Yep been here. Having a few back ups is key as well
In all my years of being both in the hobby, and the industry, I can confidently say heaters are the single piece of equipment with the highest failure rate.
Hope your tank is ok!
Ahh man, sorry to hear that. Hope it wasn’t a total crash.
I’ll give you a few frags free whenever you’re ready to rebuild.
Did it nuke your big display? I’m assuming that heater was only for a small frag tank or something, hope everything is all right regardless.
I believe the Apex power monitor will help avoid these crashes
So… if you use Apex make sure to set up power monitor feature on your heater

Wouldn't it trip the GFCI?
Damn, that sucks! Good advice !
Thanks Ty! 50% crash tank still a bit cloudy and corals are half open
Yupe, the main tank
Been there cost me all my Acropora and some torches
That's a bummer. Sorry to hear that.
Heaters suck indeed. I had all possible failures, no heating, over heating as well as breaking and supplying 110V to the tank. So far my setup always caught the failures. Knock on wood
Heater + secondary controller (e.g. Apex) + GFCI outlet + grounded electrode in a sump.
Eheim is the most reliable heater in my experience. Using the BRS titanium on one of my tanks. Has been two years. So far so good. Time will show.
Free heat get a return pump that is very hot, use it in the winter.
