      Been thinking about a chiller

Lately as the temperatures are going up my reef tank has been going through a few temp spikes. Yesterday my tank hit 81.3 which is a decent jump from my baseline 78. My coral are doing fine as well as my fish but I plan on putting a few more sensitive corals very soon so I’m thinking adding a chiller for the summer months to add temperature stability. What brands are you guys running and any issues? I have a 180 gallon so I’m thinking 1/2 HP or would larger be advantageous.

Check out TECO chillers. They are definitely the best compared to some of the other ones. They also have a built-in heater, which is really nice. I have the TK-2000 and love it never had a problem with it. Am going on 7-8 years with it now. Only down side is price but you will definitely get your money’s worth from it.

Something to consider is how big your place is. Instead of a chiller for your aquarium maybe consider getting a portable a/c for the house and keep everyone cool.

It’s in the main living area. Few thousand feet I was just leaving the house AC on but over the long run a chiller may actually make more sense.

I checked those chillers out and they are really nice but definitely pricey. When I decide to get one I’ll definitely consider them

Fyi, your inbox is full. I have a JBJ 1/4hp Arctica chiller available.

      Thanks,
      Stan
