Have you thought about how the tank and inhabitants will be cared for over the weekends or holidays? I have some mushrooms and pulsing xenia for the tank when ready.
That’s awesome! Basically the teacher I am partnering up with has said that I have the freedom to come on campus whenever needed. My plan over breaks is to have a security camera set up on it to be able to monitor it from home but I will still be able to go in whenever I need to.

This week we covered Aquascaping and built our rock structure! The structure turned out super cool and it was awesome to see everyone working together to build it. Next week we will be going over testing!

Today we covered the importance of testing and what we even test for in reef tanks. I went over the Marine Nitrogen Cycle and what each element means. We tested for Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate, Salinity, PH, and Temperature. It’s awesome to see these students get passionate about the science behind our wonderful reefs.

Mission Hills High School Coral Reef Club

Hey everyone, the tank is doing absolutely amazing! We have two fish and two pieces of coral so far. The fish are a fire fish goby and clownfish. The coral is a small colony of GSP and a Toadstool frag. Everything is doing fantastic and I am beginning to get the rhythm of maintenance on this tank as well as allowing each of the students to participate in every step of the way. We are finally ready for some CORAL DONATIONS so if you were someone who wanted to donate shoot me a text and we can set something up for this weekend. I really truly appreciate the constant support from this community and look forward to seeing the progression of the MHHS Coral Reef Tank. My number is (760) 58five-five77three.

The students also want a Long Nose Hawkfish as well so if anyone would like to donate that, they would be super excited. Thanks again!

My club and I have been working on this species list for our reef tank at school. Basically every animal that goes into the tank is recorded on our website where we do research on each animal including their scientific name and where they’re found in the wild. I made a QR code for the website and taped it on the side of the tank so that anyone can scan it and get quick info about each animal in our system. I’ll paste the link below.

Tank is doing great. Still looking for donations of any types of soft corals, macros, or gorgs. Anything works amazing just trying to fill the tank up with fun soft corals and such that are interesting to look at. Thanks!
