I guess I have dozens of these nocturnal snails.

Should I keep them in display or put them in sump?

I love trachus snails. All I use. They reproduce in the tank, producing viable offspring. They also can right themselves better than astrea snails.

I just put a bunch in my new tank… the Halloween hermits ate them

Lame, sorry. I don’t use hermits, they’re pests IMO.

I don’t use them cause they take food from my lps. Eating snails is a whole different problem.

You should swap out the Halloween hermits with zebra hermits
