Dry Skim vs Wet Skim

What’s your favorite method of skimming?

Wet or Dry and why?

I aim to have the smaller bubbles end at the bottom of the collection cup; the logic being that I don’t need to clean the neck. For the longest time that strategy led to a wetter skim but for the last year or so I’ve noticed a lot less in the collection cup but a thicker, more dense layer of crud collecting around the cup. That and I’m making less mistakes like leaving the skimmer on with the return pump off (changing the sump level) tilt me towards dry skimming.

I like a drier skim, just so I don’t have to empty the skimmer cup as often.
