      How do you acclimate fish?

What’s your favorite method of acclimating fish?

I’ve never had an issue just simply floating the fish and then hand scooping him into an acclimation box as long as they are healthy then they will be fine. If not healthy then possibly drip acclimate with air stone in small bucket no more than 30 mins or so. I have done this with $10 fish all the way to $1000 fish with the same results.

+1 for “pop & drop” I’ll drip acclimate starfish & more sensitive things but most fish float to temp acclimate then get released either into an acclimation box or dare I say- straight to the DT. One tip I picked up along the way was to use hamster balls for acclimation. I like them because it puts the fish inside the tank instead of on the side wall.

I’ve experimented with drip acclimation for 30 minutes and an additional step that another reefer has taught me with adding hydrogen peroxide: 5ml per liter of water, 2.5ml per 16 oz of water, or 20ml per gal of water. Done with acclimated fish and haven’t ran into disease so far.
