      Weekend project: artificial rockscape

Due to poor planning when I set up my tank I had a big pile of rocks that mostly blocked the view of the short side of my 3’x2’ tank. So I ordered a bonsai/epoxy resin rock thing from West Mariculture. I replaced about 1/3 of the rock in my tank with this structure. I like the look so far. I had to cut the bases of a few across and mount them to flat frag squares, sucks to lose growth, but the rocks had to go. I didn’t take a before pic ( just rocks agains the glass) but here is the structure and final product. Man, there was SO MUCH detritus and under the rocks, even though my tank is BB, it still built up like mad. I did a WC and out a filter rock on the drain, but it not all gone yet so excuse the haze.

Looks good man. Once that starts to get covered in coralline and corals you won't able to tell it isnt real rock. The main structure in my tank is very similar to that.

I really like it. I ordered some of the maxspec bio blocks for the sump, to help make up for the lost rock. I might add more pieces fron WestM after a few months once I have had it for a while.

Me too! Haha. Hopefully it doesn’t all go to hell. No appreciable difference on day two, so that’s good.
