Just checked Scripps phosphate is .23 and nitrate is 0
How do you guys deal with phosphate before adding water for water changes?

Maybe run a reactor with gfo in the bucket for a few days to bring the p04 down to your desired level before adding to the tank
. I stopped using scripts a few years ago but use to run it through a sediment filter for a few days before adding to the tank. Lots of lil things used to come out that hose..
You may want to add some nitrates as well unless you have higher nitrates in your system
I might just do that but I stopped using GFO cause I heard it might strip other stuff from the water
What salt do you use now?

I'm using hw marine, you can find it @brs for around 65$ 200g mix roughly
I went away from Scripps years ago also because I found pieces of algae in it.. But now I'm using it again since they moved away from the pier. Looks like filtration have improved and I no longer see anything in the water.
I just measured jug of Scripps water in the garage I bought home 2 weeks ago, it's just under 0.1 ppm PO4.
Actually surprised it's not zero.
But I'm not worried about it. I have dragon's breath algae in the sump suckling up so much nutrient that I have to dose nitrate and phosphate.
Search YouTube on carbon dosing. Some NO3 and PO4 is necessary for corals to grow. They feed beneficial bacteria which in term feed corals.
You are dosing Microbacter7 so you're good on bacteria. Dose a bit of carbon and you should be good to go. Tropic Marin has a carbon dosing system that looks pretty easy and effective.
+1 sediment filter, gfo or diatom filter. Scripps can be a great value but I switched to making my own after doing the math. For my situation it offers little savings considering the time, gas, filtering & alk/ca buffering to make it equivalent to what I can make at home. Don’t get me wrong- in a pinch, I’d grab Scripps without hesitation.
