      Yellow tangs prices are nuts!

      https://reefbuilders.com/2021/01/28/...-market-price/

I remember a year or two ago when they were $30.. Now they are 10X! Yikes!

In the mean time, gem tangs did the opposite dropping from $3k to around $350.

      Fun times..

Seen this the other day and screen shot it, couldn't believe the mark up. Still seen captive breed ones going for like 120 from biota

Supply and demand my friends. Capitalizing is not a new concept unfortunately.

Hawaii shut down statewide fish collecting...

They are now illegal to catch. So no more supply other than captive bred.

Just curious, Derek. They banned collection because... dwindling numbers? Effects on reef? Why did they ban yellow tangs?

Last I heard they were suspending any collection until a study was completed on the effects of fish collecting. I head there often and tried bringing fish back many years ago and the airline gave me some grief, but now the DNR has banned any fish leaving the island for the fish industry but eating them is ok and many of the fish we buy are eaten there like parrot fish, convict tangs, etc as the airline attendant seemed be drooling at my convict tang. When she mentioned frying it up with some salt and pepper (not kidding)

Lol, I know what you mean when I go to the Asian fish store. I cried a little inside when I was at wet market in the Philippines and saw all the parrots, miniatus groupers, peacock shrimp, and various tangs lol

Never thought I would see the day a gem tang is less than a yellow tang:
      Riptide Creatures
We have special group buy (this week only) Gem Tang $350 and Borbonious Anthia $225. Pre-Pay for this deal!
