How long does water stay electrically charged if your pump had exposed wiring but not enough to shock you?
After you turn the pump off? I’d think it would dissipate pretty quickly after that. Some pipe use grounding probes for this reason.
My friends water transfer (when doing water changes) pump apparently had an exposed wire. He would use it but started noticing corals not opening up. He thinks the water held a charge.
Salt water is definitely conductive, but the voltage will dissipate after turning the pump off. Ive had glass heaters break and let out enough voltage to knock me on my a$$ (literally). Didn't lose any live stock from that. Tangs can get messed up up pretty quick though, they dont like stray current.
