      Tank upgrade.

So I'll soon be upgrading from a 75g cube with a 10-15 gallon sump 85-90 gallon total water volume. to a 120g with trigger systems elite 36 inch sump.. My question is should I do a full cycle on tbe new tank or van I just transfer over water from old tank and add the difference.

Transfer over, you might get a mini cycle.

You may want to consider rotating out sole of your live rock. I didn’t do this on my last upgrade and regretted it. I have to imagine rock accumulates phosphates over time, not to mention unwanted zoas, aptasia, invasive sponge and other annoyances that grow slowly, but add up over the years.

I am planning on transferring all the water either way. I more meant should I do a full cycle on the new tank first?

If your question is whether you monitor your nitrates and ammonia while moving to the new tank & base your decisions on the absence/low ammonia- yes you should. As mentioned, the act could likely result in a mini cycle but you should have enough bacteria in the water to seed the upgrade so no need for a decaying shrimp or anything like that. I also agree with the advice to start from scratch on the base rock (unless you know 100% your rock is clean or just can’t). I would maybe add taking a handful or two of clean (no pests) sand from the existing tank to seed the new tank. If you’re moving fish you can transfer them but should consider supplementing the initial bacteria population with bottled bacteria (dr Tim or microbacter7)

Many people just swap over. As long as you have enough established live rock it should be fine, that is where most of your beneficial life is.
