Hey everyone. I have been looking/googling for ways to stop snails from getting in my skimmer intake. Everything I read days not to hamper the intake flow. Therefore any kind of cover needs to have at least as much surface area as the water intake hole. Here is what I found was a super easy and cheap solution (at least so far they are working well) for my Bubble Magus skimmers (may or may not work for others).
Item to buy from Home Depot (was about $5):
Cut off the outside so that it looks like this:
Hook the handle on the other side of the air intake pipe and stretch it over the water intake hole (this plastic is flexible). This keeps the cap from falling off. Here is what the final product looks like:
