I would go the DIY chaeto reactor with an old TLF550 reactor with amazon led grow light strip. You can add a small pump to the back chamber or even Y off your existing return pump and house the reactor in the cabinet. This will keep the back chambers free of chaeto and a lot easier to maintenance when pulling chaeto.

Also if your tank just cycled there is no need for chaeto yet until you have a bio load other wise it will just die off and waste your money if you didn’t get it for free

That's an even better idea and more efficient use of space on that tank.
Glad to see others chiming in to help.

Thanks, that makes sense to wait until after the cycle to start the fuge.

With the back biocube space and stock rack I think I'll try to put a fuge back there until I can find a used tlf550.

I will need to upgrade the pump when I find the reactor. The stock pump is a little weak to run both.

I ordered a small submersible light and timer so I'm ready to get the baby fuge running when the cycle done. Also did a little window shopping at Aquatic warehouse and they have chaeto for 4.99 so I'll prob grab from there.

Any suggestions on sandsifters/crab/shrimp cleanup crew?

Most of my sand is pretty fine.

I always use astreas, ceriths, nassaurius, and nerites for snails. You may forgo the astreas in that size tank.
The only crabs I use are emeralds if I have valonia/bubble algae.
Cleaner shrimps are a must for me.

Tank finished the cycle and grabbed a clown pair, small gsp and pulsing xenia. Nice to have some color in the tank and kick the lights on.

Been running a light schedule of about 14 hours. 8 of it is the full power whites and blues with overlapping sunrise/sunset and moonlights. Light out completely for about 10 hours. That's when I have the fuge light on in the back.

Didnt want to get the Cuc until the clowns were in the tank a few weeks. Read the cuc could die if there isnt anything to eat. But now with the lights on starting to get some minor signs of diatoms.

I hooked up the skimmer and threw my bag of chemipure blue in since I read that may help remove silicates that can combat diatoms.

So I have filter floss to catch debris. A protein skimmer. Chemipure blue and chaeto all running.

Is that a little overkill? Still trying to find out what the best filter set up will be.
