      WTB Spotted Mandarin Dragonet

Preferably aquacultured and eating frozen, although I’m in the process of starting my pod cultures anyway. I’d like 1 male and 1 female. Alternatively, if anyone has a breeding pair and would be willing to sell me eggs, I’m interested. My plan is to make an attempt at breeding these.

      Matt

Everyone is on the hunt for these. I heard SD reef gets these every Thursday and I’ve seen them on the list for reefers garage. The problem is they are typically cheaper fish and everyone is after them. Best of luck.

Have you looked into Algae Barn? Not sure how successful a pair from them would be as far as breeding goes vs a wild pair. Good luck! One of the best fish if you can get them eating enough.

I see they sell green mandarins and they let you specify gender which is good. Might go that route if I can’t find spotted mandarins.

Targets have been successfully bred in captivity in Australia but not sure anyone has bred them stateside. biota breeds blues and they are occasionally (rarely) available thru algae barn & liveaquaria. There was a target mandy available @ pk as late as Friday (not sure of the sex but it was eating). I have a male I’ve been trying to pair but he’s proving to be picky about his mate.

I went to LAX they have plenty and look really good. Your best bet is to drive up there and get a pair there. It’s worth the drive rather than trying to see if the stores down here have any shipped. The shipping process seems to stress these mandarins out too much. The success rate is better this way. I brought one home from LAX and it’s still alive 3 weeks later.

I’ve never heard of buying something at LAX. Do you mean the airport?

      WTB Spotted Mandarin Dragonet

Several fish wholesalers are located a stones throw from LAX
      Some are open to public
      Some aren’t
LFSs go up there weekly or biweekly to buy marine fish
Live aquaria ships most of their fish from the LAX wholesaler (name escapes me)
      ... maybe quality marine??
