Three 115 gallon frag tanks and two 70 gallon frag tanks
Damn, thats crazy. I have had 2 gyres for a couple years and have never had an issue with them other then the fact they are a pain in the ass to clean. Every couple of months I take them out, soak them in citric acid, clean, lube the ceramic shafts with glycerin and back to work they go. Have never seen any excessive wear that you are describing. On another note, AW has a new powerhead in stock made by sicce that is pretty small for the GPH and has a 5 year warranty. I will definitely be checking them out next time I am in the market for new PH.
Hey jason. Thanks for the heads up about the sicce pumps. I'll look into them, as I obviously need to find different pumps lol

Red Sea gyres are another nice (but expensive) alternative.
Been running a gyre XF 350 for over a year haven’t had all the same issues you have but mine does clog up pretty often. I take the pump off every 3 weeks or so to clean it cause the flow starts to drop. The maintenance is also a bit of a pain. Other than that I’m pretty satisfied it creates a nice flow and keeps detritus from settling
Here are pictures of what happen to the bushings (holding the ceramic rod on the opposite end of the motor). They clog, melt, wear down, inner and outer parts slip apart, and they break in half eventually as shown in the last picture. I recently cleaned them before going out of town for a week. I got them spotless so they wouldn’t clog when I was gone. Luckily it took 10 days to clog. That’s how sad these products are. Having to clean a power head every ten days is absurd!!
