      How to shade corals

So recently I got a pretty pricey blasto and had it melt within 2 days. I'm pretty sure it was due to my lighting being to intense. The second I first noticed it receding I placed it under a shaded area that was protected by a rock but it was already to late. I'm running metal halides so turning them down isn't an option. My question is does anybody have any cool ideas on making a "shade structure" that can be placed over the coral and somehow gradually increase the amount of light through. Maybe something I could 3d print. I'd like to be able to place it in it's permanent spot initially and just acclimate it to light instead of acclimating it to light and then moving to it's permanent spot and have it adjust to flow and whatnot. I was just curious what's out there.

Have you seen the mushroom boxes people are 3D printing? That might be a good option to check out.

That's perfect! I'm gonna try that. That'll solve my mushroom falling off rock problem as well. Maybe I'll redesign it with different size mesh tops to gradually increase light penetration. Thank you!

Of course. There are enough people out there making them that I’m sure you can find a solid starting design. Good luck!
