      !v@n's 100g Rimless Build

Well several years ago I purchased a Cadlights 100g rimless. It's been stored and I'm now ready to get it going. I designed and will be fabricating my own stand out of steel, and will also be modifying the original glass sump it came with. Here are a few 3D models I made of the stand and the sump. I have my own cnc router so I get to cut the acrylic for my sump myself.

      !v@n's 100g Rimless Build

Well finally got to make progress on my build. I finished tacking the stand together today. I hope to finish welding it over the weekend.

Finished welding the stand today and brought it into where it will live. I still need to figure out what I want to do about mounting my lighting before I send it off to powder coating. Also put the tank on it to get an idea of what it will look like. Started peeling the black vinyl off the back of the tank. Not sure if I’ll replace it or leave it clear.

And the Jones' have done it again! Jealous! If the tank I had was a clear back, I'd keep it. Nice to see you motivated to do it! So now what? What color you gonna powder coat it?

Nice work. I wish I could weld my own stand...... you’ve got skills bro
If you plan on opening the blinds at all I’d paint it black if not clear would be sick

Do you think opening the blinds sometimes would cause algae problems?

So I’m going through different ideas for skinning the stand. And thought maybe I should make it match the media console/desk I designed and built, and use usb for the panels to match. What do you guys think??

I applied several coats of polyurethane to the OSB and it looks great and is pretty smooth.
I like the industrial look of it

Looks pretty nice too me. Great idea.
I'll be using thin starboard with earth magnets attached for mine. E plastics also sells translucent acrylic panels that I've been thinking about as well. Just a few more ideas, but the poly osb looks nice as well
